VIC Privacy Commissioner  releases guide to Use Of Portable Storage Devices

In August 2009 Privacy Victoria conducted and published a report on the findings of a survey of Victoria's Public Sector's use of Personal Storage Devices (PSD)s. It was found that the the handling of PSDs was generally poor and that their use posed potentially serious data security risks.

From this report 17 recommendations were made to assist organisations comply with IPPs in their use of PSDs. The first recommendation was that organisations need to have a formal policy on PSDs at a minimum. This new guide is intended to assist those organisations develop such policies and procedures.
